A BLE beacon continuously emits a signal that terminals detect. It locates mobile assets across a building, where passive RFID requires a pass under an antenna.

What the choice comes down to:

• Battery life, two to five years depending on emission rate
• Transmission range, matched to the planned receiver density
• Format and fixing: adhesive, screwed or magnetic mount

BLE locates, passive RFID counts. The two are not rivals; they answer different questions: where is this asset, and what passed through here.
