PVC and identification cards

The blank card is the badge substrate. Its material determines its life and its compatibility with the chosen printing and encoding technology.

Three criteria separate the models:

Standard PVC for a short-life badge, PVC-PET composite for daily wear over several years
Thickness, usually 760 microns, dictated by the access reader
Embedded contactless technology: Mifare, DESFire, iCLASS or UHF

Check the contactless technology before ordering in volume. A Mifare Classic card will not work on a reader configured for DESFire, and the stock will be unusable.
