Desktop Label Printers

A desktop label printer sits next to the workstation and prints labels on demand: goods-in, dispatch, bin labelling, sample identification.

Three criteria separate the models:

• 203 or 300 dpi resolution, 300 dpi as soon as the label drops below 25 mm
• Print width, 2 or 4 inches, which sets the maximum label format
• USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, depending on the workstation and software

A desktop printer copes with a few hundred labels a day. Beyond that the printhead wears quickly and an industrial model costs less per thousand labels.
